Hi there! I’m Courtney aka The Crunchy Delinquent! I’m in love with real food, being a mom, learning about traditional foods and nutrition and being a wife! You’ll generally find me in the kitchen whipping up a new yummy recipe (or staring at my huge mess pretending to clean it…), in the woods or out at the farmer’s market shopping for fresh, organic produce!

Since you’ve stopped by, you may (or may not) be thinking to yourself that, ‘The Crunchy Delinquent,’ is and odd name for a blog. Let me enlighten you as to how I came to have this name.

Crunchy: adjective Used to describe persons who have adjusted or altered their lifestyle for environmental reasons. Crunchy persons tend to be politically left-leaning and may be additionally but not exclusively categorized as vegetarians, vegans, eco-tarians, conservationists, environmentalists, neo-hippies, tree huggers, nature enthusiasts, etc.

Delinquent: adjective Failing in or neglectful of a duty or obligation; guilty of a misdeed or offense.

My daughter was born February of 2013, I was 19 at the time, so still technically a ‘teen mom’. In today’s society teen moms are generally viewed as a trashy wild child, its thought that they don’t like or care for their children very well and they ‘got knocked up’ by some random dead beat ‘baby daddy’. I am labeled as having failed to succeed or failing my life because of it.  So from societies point of view, I’m considered a delinquent or a failure.

However, that is not the case. I LOVE my daughter, I work very hard to take awesome care of her and my fiance and I both work hard to give her a good life. We strive to create a chemical free home for her to live in, a healthy atmosphere for her to grow both physically and emotionally and provide her with the most nutritious, real foods possible. We want to raise her to respect the earth and have an Eco-friendly thought process.  Therefore making me crunchy.

And thus The Crunchy Delinquent was born!
